Captain Beth Mooney is one of many Australians in the Giants’ squad. Ashleigh Gardner, Player of the Tournament when Australia lifted the T20 World Cup recently, Kim Garth, Annabel Sutherland and Georgia Wareham are all in the fray. England’s Sophia Dunkley is the only non-Australian overseas player in the Gujarat Giants’ camp. Among the top Indian players, Gujarat has Harleen Deol, S Meghana and the vice-captain Sneha Rana.
The pitch at DY Patil Stadium favours the batters more than the bowlers. Thus, batting first could be the obvious choice of the captain who wins the toss. The average highest while batting first on the ground is 186 in the last 5 matches played here.
