South Africa World Cup Squad: South Africa Cricket Board has announced its squad for the ODI World Cup 2023. The ICC tournament will be held in India this year. The Board has selected a 15-member squad for the World Cup 2023. Temba Bavuma will lead the team.
The squad includes fast bowler Gerald Coetzee who made his debut in international cricket earlier this year. Spinner Keshav Maharaj has returned to the team after recovering from the injury.
Gerald has played only two matches
Gerald has played two ODIs so far to which he has taken 5 wickets. He took 3 wickets on his ODI debut. The team includes experienced batsmen like Reeza Hendricks, Heinrich Klaasen, Quinton de Kock, Aiden Markram, Rassie van der Dussen, and David Miller. However, star wicketkeeper-batsman de Kock has announced his retirement after the World Cup.
Kagiso Rabada will handle South Africa’s bowling attack. It also includes star bowlers like Enrique Nortje and Lungi Ngidi. The role of spinners will be crucial on Indian pitches. South Africa has given place to spinners like Keshav Maharaj and Tabrez Shamsi in the team for this.
