Delhi has announced a 24-member squad an unusually large contingent for their Ranji Trophy opener against Hyderabad, starting October 15. Ayush Badoni will captain the side, with Yash Dhull named vice-captain. The selection was finalised by the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) on Thursday.
Ashok Sharma in conversation with PTI highlighted on an unusually long squad saying "The selectors have named 24 because they felt that a larger pool is always available for selection during each game. However, when we play home games in Delhi, we will prune it down to 15."

But one of the players whose return remains highly anticipated is of Rishabh Pant. Giving an update on this, the DDCA secretary said that "In the next game, we are expecting Rishabh Pant to play.”
Another important player Nitish Rana also makes a return to the Delhi setup after a brief switch to Uttar Pradesh. The senior batter has been drafted straight into the red-ball squad.

Even though Rishabh Pant's name has not been put in the squad there are high chances that he might join in from the next game. Delhi will be playing their first match against Hyderabad. Ayush Badoni will be leading the team and Yash Dhull has been named as the vice-captain of Delhi Ranji Trophy squad.
