The Indian Sports Ministry has formally granted permission to Team India to play the high-octane Asia Cup 2025 match against Pakistan on September 14 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The critical Group A match had been in a state of uncertainty until Thursday when the ministry issued a new policy that regulates India’s international sporting endeavors most notably the ones with Pakistan.
India Vs Pakistan Match
“India’s approach to sports events involving Pakistan reflects its overall policy in dealing with that country,” states the ministry policy.
“In so far as bilateral sports events in each other’s country are concerned, Indian teams will not be participating in competitions in Pakistan. Nor will we permit Pakistani teams to play in India,” it added.
No to Bilaterals, Yes to Multinationals
According to the new policy, India will still avoid bilateral series with Pakistan but will be allowed to play multilateral events such as the Asia Cup. This means that Suryakumar Yadav’s team will play the tournament as scheduled.
Sources told PTI that the directive has taken effect immediately, dispelling the uncertainty that had been doing the rounds since the schedule for the Asia Cup was out last month.
“We will not stop Indian cricket team from playing in Asia Cup as it is multilateral,” the ministry source said.

“But Pakistan will not be allowed on Indian soil for bilateral competitions. But we will not stop them from multilateral events as we will abide by Olympic Charter,” he added.
