India faced a disappointing 0-2 defeat against South Africa on their home soil and head coach Gautam Gambhir has come under tight scrutiny since then. This was the second time India faced whitewash at home – first against New Zealand last year and now against South Africa.
There were questions whether Gautam Gambhir will be sacked or not but now a report by NDTV reveals that Gambhir will not be axed. Over the days, the speculation intensified as India faced a Test defeat on home soil which was once considered to be extremely rare. However, BCCI insiders according to NDTV have dismissed such claims insisting that the board remains committed to Gambhir’s long-term vision. The report further mentioned that the Indian Test Team is going through a transition and Gambhir will receive full backing as he is also trying to rebuild the team.

“We are not looking to replace Gautam Gambhir at the moment. He is rebuilding a team. His contract runs till the 2027 World Cup,” BCCI sources told NDTV.
In addition to this, a comprehensive meeting will also take place after the white-ball series against South Africa concludes. The meeting will involve the Indian Team management and the selection committee which will focus on identifying key areas of concern and loopholes.
