Cameron Green’s 55 not out and Josh Inglis’s 51 led Australia to a thrilling three-wicket victory over the West Indies in the fourth T20I on Saturday, leaving the Aussies with a dominant 4–0 lead in the five-match series.
West Indies Set Competitive Target
After winning the toss, Australia decided to bowl first and invited the West Indies to bat. The West Indies put up a good 205 runs for 9, courtesy of contributions from several batters. Still, the bowlers of Australia recovered with five wickets lost after the midpoint to restrict the total.
Australia’s Chase Becomes Shaky Despite Strong Beginning
Australia were off to a shaky start but got in control steadily. Cameron Green’s 55 from 35 balls comprised of three sixes and three fours, and Inglis blasted 51 off only 30 balls, thrashing one six and 10 fours. Glenn Maxwell gave a valuable cameo, scoring 47 from 18 balls, comprising six sixes and one boundary.

Amidst the power-hitting, Australia’s pursuit was challenged at times. Since Tim David was rested a day following his fastest T20I century for Australia (37-ball effort), others had to stand up in an intense situation.
Early Wickets Trouble The Aussies
The pursuit began on a poor note with Mitchell Marsh getting lbw for a second-ball duck to West Indies seamer Jediah Blades. Inglis and Maxwell steadied the ship, reaching 66/2 by the 7th over before Inglis was caught in the deep by Sherfane Rutherford off Romario Shepherd.
During drinks, Australia was 129/2, but soon everything changed. Maxwell was caught off Akeal Hosein on the next ball. The momentum kept shifting as Blades came back to mop up Mitchell Owen (2), and had Cooper Connolly caught for a duck, leaving Australia hanging at 134/5.
Green Holds Nerve in the Final Overs
Aaron Hardie’s exit for 23 in the 17th over built huge pressure on the Aussies, and when Xavier Bartlett was run out through a Shepherd deflection, Australia were seven wickets down and still two runs behind the target.
But Green sereneely found the boundary from the next ball, and Sean Abbott wrapped up the game with a single, winning the game for Australia with four balls remaining.
Australian Fielders Put On a Show
Australia’s work in the field also contributed to their victory. West Indies’ highest score was a mere 31, since the Aussie fielders showcased match winning catches and athleticism.
Xavier Bartlett sent Brandon King (18) and Shai Hope (10) back to the pavilion, the latter on a diving catch by Maxwell. Maxwell also chipped in with an incredible one-handed catch to get Roston Chase for a duck off Hardie’s bowling.
Adam Zampa snatched the vital wicket of Rutherford (31), caught by Marsh, while Mitchell Owen pulled off a deep catch to return Shimron Hetmyer for 16. Maxwell helped Green in picking Romario Shepherd (28) wicket, and Green himself caught Matthew Forde (15) to leave West Indies at 184/8.
Rain Delays Finish, But Hosts Add Final Runs
Rain temporarily put a halt to the match with only four deliveries left. Following a 55-minute delay, the West Indies were able to contribute two runs to their total.
