WI Vs AUS: Australia Beat West Indies by 133 Runs To Secure Series Win

Australia's strong team effort reaffirmed their grip on the series and left the West Indies looking for answers before the final Test.

Australia commanded a 133-run victory against the West Indies in the second Test at Grenada on Sunday, earning an unbeatable 2-0 edge in the three-match series with one match remaining. The hosts were some early promise in the morning session, courtesy of a fiery spell of bowling from Shamar Joseph, who took 4 wickets and assisted in bowling out Australia for 243 in their second innings. But following a target of 277 on a tiring pitch was a daunting task.

West Indies fell apart under pressure, dismissed for a mere 143. The collapse was triggered early as Josh Hazlewood had John Campbell lbw for a duck in his first over. Mitchell Starc then got the better of Keacy Carty for 10, and the slide continued.

Plying his 100th Test match, Kraigg Brathwaite managed just 7 before being dismissed by Beau Webster, a game that he’ll probably want to erase from memory. The killer blow was delivered by Pat Cummins, who bowled Brandon King for 14 with a delivery that barely kissed off-stump.

West Indies’ prospects were further disheartened when Shai Hope was out for 17, caught and bowled by Hazlewood in trying an ill-conceived pull shot. While there was some fight from Roston Chase with a battling 34, which featured an breathtaking six off Starc, his lbw decision just before lunch signaled the start of the collapse.

Australia’s strong team effort reaffirmed their grip on the series and left the West Indies looking for answers before the final Test.
