The Indian Premier League (IPL) auction is likely to be held in the second or third week of December. The tentative dates which have been reported by Cricbuzz are December 13 and 15. There is still no official confirmation from the IPL Governing Council.
What will be the venue for IPL 2026 auction?
In line with the recent editions, there is a strong possibility that the auction might be hosted overseas. Although according to multiple reports indicate that BCCI might still opt to hold the event in India. The retention deadline is expected to fall on November 15. Hence, franchise will need to submit the names of players that have been retained before the deadline.

Virat Kohli’s IPL retirement nearing?
According to a report by RevSportz journalist Rohit Juglan, Kohli was to ink an extension on a commercial contract involving RCB’s brand operations. But sources indicate the ex-captain has decided not to go through with the deal. Neither Kohli nor the franchise has made a public comment, but the news has raised eyebrows and sparked speculation regarding a potential change in his long-term relationship with the franchise.

The two teams who’ll be looking for a complete revamp is Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR). Both the teams had a miserable campaign and are more focused on bringing in young talent in their franchise.
