Tabraiz Shamsi, a very successful spinner from South Africa recently pointed out a fascinating coincidence between him and Jasprit Bumrah. He further took it to X (formerly Twitter) to mention about the similarity.

The Similarity Between Bumrah & Shamsi

Both Jasprit Bumrah and Tabraiz Shamsi have same T20I stats.

“Fun fact… Jasprit Bumrah and I have played the exact same amount of 120 international games.
Bowled the exact same number of balls in those games and taken the exact same amount of wickets! Such a crazy coincidence” Shamsi wrote on X

Both Bumrah and Shamsi have played 70 T20I matches, bowled 1,509 balls, and taken 89 wickets. Nevertheless, there are a couple of differences in the two players’ figures. Regarding overs, Bumrah has bowled in 69 innings whereas Shamsi has bowled in all 70. Bumrah has an economy rate of 6.27 runs per over which is excellent but hasn’t taken any five-wicket hauls in the entirety of T20 internationals. Shamsi has a little high economy of 7.39, he has also taken one five-wicket haul in T20Is.

It is also interesting to note that, none of the two bowlers have played in the recently concluded T20I series between India and South Africa, a series India won by a dominating margin of 3-1. Meanwhile, Indian batters Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson both hit centuries during the series.
