WATCH: Digvesh Rathi Does ‘Notebook’ Celebration Again After Dismissing Shreyas Iyer – Will He Be Fined Again?

Despite Digvesh Rathi’s double strike, his efforts were not enough to prevent a comprehensive defeat, as Punjab Kings secured a commanding 37-run win and moved into second place on the IPL 2025 points table.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) spinner Digvesh Rathi revived his hotly discussed ‘notebook’ celebration during their IPL 2025 game against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Sunday, after it had been momentarily withdrawn following disciplinary action. Rathi, fined a few times this season already for his celebrations, had diluted them in previous matches choosing instead to celebrate them stealthily on the pitch. But in the case of Punjab, he restored the complete version to fashion.

Watch – Digvesh Rathi Does ‘Notebook’ Celebration Again

The left-arm spinner initially deployed the legendary celebration after getting rid of Shreyas Iyer in the 13th over, before he did it again in the last but one over when he dismissed Prabhsimran Singh. Rathi had originally made this celebratory move earlier in the season during a previous match against PBKS, after claiming Priyansh Arya’s wicket.

His match-day celebrations have drawn the attention of the game authorities, culminating in periodic fines that occasionally compelled him to tone down on-field expressions temporarily. With Sunday’s return to the full-on celebration, one does not know whether the BCCI will pursue additional action.

Punjab Kings Secure A Dashing Win

Despite Rathi’s double strike, his efforts were not enough to prevent a comprehensive defeat, as Punjab Kings secured a commanding 37-run win and moved into second place on the IPL 2025 points table. Prabhsimran Singh gained spotlight as he hit 91 off 48 balls and took  his team to a strong total of 236/5 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. A number of rapids cameos also added to PBKS’s total.

LSG’s Struggle Continues

In return, Lucknow Super Giants could get only 199/7, with left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh bowling a match-winning spell of 3/16. He got rid of Mitchell Marsh for a duck and sent Aiden Markram back for 13 in the same over, damaging LSG’s pursuit early on.

Rishabh Pant, purchased by LSG for a whopping Rs 27 crore at the November auction, failed to make an impact yet again. Pant crawled to 18 off 17 balls, getting just two boundaries and a six. Pant’s poor form is now very concerning for Lucknow with only 128 runs from 10 matches in the ongoing season.

The loss leaves LSG seventh in the points table, four points behind the playoffs with just three games remaining. Punjab Kings, on the other hand, continue their good form, reaching their seventh victory of the campaign to stand just behind table-leaders Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
