Faf du Plessis, Joburg Super Kings’ skipper, decided to bat first following a toss victory, but lost out to a dismissal in the opening over with only 1 run on the board. Devon Conway and Leus du Plooy stabilised the innings as they posted 57 runs for the second wicket. Good support from the middle order pushed Joburg into 169, where du Plooy led the batting, scoring 38.

On a day of much cricket, Durban’s chase went early, losing four wickets for 51 runs. Quinton de Kock and Heinrich Klaasen then made a 48-run stand, threatening to turn the game around. Pathirana then dismissed Klaasen and the batting from Durban crumbled, bowled out for 141, handing Joburg a 28-run win.
