The pub, reportedly operating on the sixth floor of Ratnam’s Complex on MG Road near Chinnaswamy International Cricket Stadium, is learned to be without a NOC from the fire department.

BBMP has set a seven-day deadline for the pub to respond in this regard, threatening it with legal action if any clarification is not furnished. The BBMP issued the notice following a complaint from the social activists HM Venkatesh and Kunigal Narasimhamurthy.

Venkatesh was a social activist who spoke against the continuous fire safety measures in Bengaluru’s skyscrapers. He pointed out several bars, restaurants, and pubs operating without proper measures for fire safety. Venkatesh also refers to the tragic incident with Carbon Towers, where due to a short circuit and lack of safety provisions, people started jumping from the building amidst the fire.

Additionally, One8 Commune was earlier involved in another case of violation when an FIR was registered in July this year for operating beyond the permitted time of 1:00 am. According to media reports, the pub had still been serving customers till 1:20 am.
