Virat Kohli is all set to make his Ranji comeback after 13 long years and he will be playing against Railways on January 30 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
BCCI’s Mandate Brings Top Players Back to Domestic Cricket
Virat Kohli decided to play Ranji after Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) gave strict directive requiring senior players to participate in domestic cricket for national selection. Hence, several top Indian players including Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal played in Ranji Trophy.
Virat Kohli’s Pre-Match Preparations
Before linking up with the Delhi squad, Virat Kohli trained in Mumbai under former Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar where he was seen focusing on short-pitched delivery. He joined the training session on Tuesday, January 28 under captain Ayush Badoni at Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Increased Security And Free Entry For Fans
While Virat Kohli’s return has generated significant excitement amongst fans, the security has also been increased. To accommodate the fans eager to watch him play, the entry will be free and on first come first serve basis.
Virat Kohli In Ranji Trophy
Virat Kohli made his Ranji Trophy debut in November 2006 against Tamil Nadu and he last played against Uttar Pradesh in November 2012. In 23 Ranji appearances Virat has accumulated 1,547 runs which includes five centuries. It is also important to note that since his Test debut in 2011, Virat Kohli has played only one domestic first-class match.
