Pakistan cricket icon Zaheer Abbas left no stone unturned in his sharp criticism at comparisons being drawn between Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli and Babar Azam. Abbas dismissed all the comparisons and said that there’s no comparison between the two batters, seeing Babar Azam’s current form Abbas stated that he should be out of the team.
Babar Azam’s Dip In Form
Babar Azam has come under increasing scrutiny following a spate of disappointing performances in major tournaments. He could not lead Pakistan to the ODI World Cup semi-finals last year and had a pretty ordinary performance at the recent T20 World Cup where they got eliminated in the group stage.
Babar’s form has slipped drastically and he had even fallen out of the ICC Test rankings’ top 10 list. Not even a fifty in the last 16 innings in which he batted, and the last big contribution for him was a 161-run innings against New Zealand in December 2022. Meanwhile, Kohli remains a valuable asset to India in any format of the game after having recently announced his retirement from T20Is that came after a match-winning performance in the T20 World Cup final.

Virat Kohli In A Completely Different League, Babar Azam No Way Near
Abbas did state that no comparison should be drawn between Babar and Kohli, as Virat Kohli has always delivered his performance in every match India has played.
“The comparisons are pointless, Virat Kohli scores in every match, the other player (Babar) doesn’t score in any match, so then how can you compare? The person who scores, he is the bigger player. Babar Azam should be dropped from the team. If he’s not scoring runs, because if he’s our main batsman and he’s out of form, he should be out of the team,” Abbas said during the Cricket Predicta Conclave.
Zaheer Abbas Praises Team India And Skipper Rohit Sharma
“The Indian team overall is very good. Their batters are doing well, and the bowlers are strong too. It is a very balanced team, one that plays soch samajh kar (thoughtfully). They have a very good captain who understands cricket very well. When everything is going in your favour, it is smooth sailing, and that’s the case with India right now,” he added.
