The Ranji Trophy is scheduled to start from October 11 with Delhi set to take on Chandigarh in its first match. Kohli and Pant are unlikely to play as they would be busy finalizing preparations for the India Test series against New Zealand, which is set to kick off from Bengaluru on October 16.

Still, their names do appear in the probable Delhi squad, thereby creating a buzz among cricket fans of Delhi by stirring talks over their possible appearances in domestic matches. This is the first time after 2018 that Kohli has been included in Delhi’s probable Ranji team. The last occasion on which he played for the Ranji Trophy was during the 2012-13 season against Uttar Pradesh after an international success series against New Zealand. Kohli is a welcome addition for Delhi, but his international ties will restrain him. He is one of the highly dynamic batsmen associated with Delhi and has played 17 Ranji Trophy matches since his debut in 2015. Rishabh Pant brought himself into prominent headlines back in the 2016-17 season due to his record fastest century in Ranji Trophy history, a 48-ball hundred against Jharkhand.
