Virat Kohli survived a very close call after his catch was almost taken by Steve Smith but the ball touched the ground in the end. Steve Smith looked a little disappointed as his efforts went in vain and didn’t seem convinced with the umpire’s decision. Virat Kohli’s wicket is very crucial for India as the openers are already back in the hut and if India needs to win the Sydney Test a big knock is required from King Kohli.
OUT or NOT OUT? 👀
Smith was convinced he had his finger under that ball. 🏏
3rd Umpire gave it NOT OUT. Do you agree?#INDvsAUS #AUSvsIND #Kohli #SteveSmith pic.twitter.com/PPsCDrRTBR---Advertisement---— The Cast Patrol (@thecastpatrol) January 3, 2025
Earlier, KL Rahul became the first Indian batter to be dismissed on Day 1 of the 5th Test against Australia, falling to Mitchell Starc on a lively green SCG pitch. Rohit Sharma, India’s regular captain, was absent from the match, with Jasprit Bumrah stepping in as the stand-in captain and choosing to bat first in Sydney on Friday. India made two changes to their lineup, bringing in Shubman Gill to replace Rohit Sharma and Prasidh Krishna to take the place of the injured Akash Deep.
Soon after KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal was also dismissed adding on to India’s struggle and Virat Kohli again coming in to bat early.
