Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli has spoken out for the first time since being admitted to Akruti Hospital in Thane due to a serious health issue. The 52-year-old’s medical condition had raised concerns when it was revealed that he was suffering from brain clots, prompting widespread worry about his well-being.
Vinod Kambli Grateful To All The Doctors
Kambli, who had been in a serious state when admitted to the hospital, thanked doctors and all the medical staff members, who have been giving continuous support. While talking at the hospital, Kambli thanked doctors and their team for all-round treatment, which is providing much-needed relief in these dire times. The treating physician, Dr. Vivek, said Kambli was in a critical state when he first brought here.
“I am alive because of the doctors here. All I would say is that I will do whatever sir (referring to the doctor) asks me to. People will see the inspiration that I’ll give them,” said Kambli as quoted by Hindustan Times.

Vinod Kambli Not In A Very Good Condition
Dr Vivek told Hindustan Times that Kambli was not in a very good condition when he was admitted to the hospital.
“When he was admitted on Saturday, he was having massive cramps along with fever and dizziness. He was not able to sit, and was not able to walk. He was also drowsy at the time of admission,” Dr. Vivek Dwivedi, who is treating Kambli, told HT.
What Happened To Kambli?
“We did all the investigation and after that came to know that he was having a urinary tract infection along with electrolyte imbalance. Sodium was a bit on the lower side, potassium was on the lower side. That was the reason for the cramps. His BP was also on the lower side. We started him on antibiotics.”
Lifelong Free Treatment Assured
In a heartwarming development, S Singh, the hospital in-charge, assured Kambli that he would receive free treatment for life. This gesture of support from the hospital further alleviated the concerns surrounding the cricketer’s health.
Concerns Over Kambli’s Health
Kambli’s health has come into controversy in the recent few months. The public’s consciousness about the former cricket gained when he went with Sachin Tendulkar, his childhood buddy at the unveiling ceremony of a statue for the man behind his training, Ramakant Achrekar, last year. Many people were worried about the image of Kambli doing a viral video while getting support to walk in several parts of India after making an appearance ailing frailly, apparently for hand-holding from the batting maestro himself recently in public.
Support From The Cricket Fraternity
With his health deteriorating, many former Indian cricketers, including Kapil Dev, came out to help Kambli financially. However, they stated that Kambli needed to show a will to help himself in order to get their full support.
Previous Health Struggles
This is not the first incident where Kambli found himself battling serious health-related issues. In a previous interview, he revealed having been hospitalized a month earlier after falling on the floor. The repeated health combat calls for continuous medical services for the former cricketer.
“I was suffering from a urine problem. It was just flowing. My son, Jesus Cristiano, picked me up and brought me back to my feet. My daughter, who is 10 years old, and my wife came to help me. This happened one month ago. My head started spinning; I collapsed and fell down. The doctor told me to get admitted,” said Kambli in an interaction on Vicky Lalwani’s YouTube channel.
