Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli is struggling with health problems, and recovery will take time. His younger brother Virendra Kambli recently spoke about the trying time the family was going through and about the emotional connection of the two brothers, who once created a record-breaking 664-run partnership while playing cricket in school. Vinod Kambli’s brother then gave a health update and said that Vinod is still recovering and will get better soon.
“He is at home right now. He is getting stable, but his treatment is on. He is having difficulty speaking. It will take him time to recover. But he is a champion, and he will come back,” said Virendra. “He will start walking and running, hopefully. I have a lot of faith in him. I hope you can see him back on the ground.”
In a heartfelt conversation with journalist Vickey Lalwani, Virendra revealed that cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar often calls to check on Vinod’s condition. Tendulkar and Kambli, once inseparable during their formative years in Mumbai’s cricketing circles, shared a friendship that extended well beyond the boundary ropes. While Tendulkar soared to become one of the greatest players in the history of the game, Kambli’s career unfortunately never reached the same heights.
Sachin dada has always supported Vinod. Their friendship is still very strong. Sachin calls and checks on him with Andrea [Hewitt, Vinod’s wife].”

There was also a positive report from Virendra regarding Vinod’s present health after a brain blood clot that resulted in hospitalization last few months. Although the improvement has been sluggish, the family has been upbeat and encouraged by Tendulkar’s ongoing concern and support.
