Virat Kohli will be playing the Vijay Hazare Trophy ahead of the ODI series against New Zealand. His participation comes after BCCI introduced a new ruled which required all centrally contracted players to play at least two domestic matches during the season.
India’s star batter Kohli will be featuring in the tournament after almost a long gap of 15 years and even though he has achieved many records – his domestic outing also carries special significance as he is now just one run short of reaching a major milestone in his domestic career.

Rishabh Pant will be leading the Delhi Team and they will be playing against Andhra Pradesh at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE). Kohli is expected to play two matches which will also be good for his practice just ahead of the ODI series against New Zealand. Having already stepped away from Test and T20I cricket, Kohli’s presence in the domestic setup has generated huge excitement among supporters. Earlier the Delhi matches were scheduled to be held at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru but due to security concerns they have been shifted to the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE).
Kohli also stands at the verge of making history in List A cricket as he has 15,999 runs in 342 matches and he is just 1 run away from completing 16,000 List A runs. He will also become the second India batter after Sachin Tendulkar to complete this milestone – his stats include 57 centuries and 84 half-centuries.
