Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26: The first day of the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy on December 24, 2025, will go down in history as one of the most explosive days in domestic cricket in India. Although the day was dominated by news of star returns for legends Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who both scored resoundingly huge hundreds, this day belonged to record-smashers for Bihar and Jharkhand.

The “run riot” display on this day saw the record for the highest total in List-A history broken and the record for the fastest century for India smashed twice in one day. Domestic and foreign talent, regardless of age of 14 Vaibhav Suryavanshi, established a record for days to come.

Sakibul Gani (Bihar)

Bihar captain Sakibul Gani made it to the history books after hitting the fastest List A century by an Indian. Gani reached the three-figure mark in 32 balls, which broke the previous record of 35 balls set only last year. Finishing the match unbeaten on 128 in 40 deliveries*, Gani’s brutal attack consisted of 10 fours and 12 sixes.

Ishan Kishan (Jharkhand)

Jharkhand skipper Ishan Kishan also proved that he has a strong message for the national selectors, which reached them in the form of an astonishing 33-ball century against Karnataka. Coming out to bat at an unusual No. 6 slot, Kishan smashed the bowling attack for 125 runs in just 39 balls, which consisted of 14 sixes, though he could not beat the record by just one ball. Nevertheless, Kishan’s innings holds the second-fastest List A century by an Indian.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi (Bihar)

The 14-year-old teenager Vaibhav Suryavanshi sustained his meteoric rise when he became the youngest centurion in the history of senior men’s List A cricket. He opened the innings and reached his hundred in 36 balls and scored an enormous 190 off 84 deliveries. During this process, he smashed the world record of AB de Villiers to attain 150 in List A cricket in 59 deliveries.

Rohit Sharma (Mumbai)

Making a comeback after seven years at the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the former Indian captain looked nowhere near rusty as he helped Mumbai crush Sikkim with ease. Rohit smashed 155 off just 94 balls, reaching a century after 62 deliveries. His knock is a perfect example of aggressive playing with a level head, with 9 sixes and 18 fours. Mumbai required a 237-run target that was chased down in just over 30 overs.

Virat Kohli (Delhi)

Virat Kohli started his first home match in the last 15 years with a classic ton that helped Delhi weather the tough chase against the Andhra cricket team. Besides the nineties-scored mark, the importance of the instance is that Virat Kohli is the only man in the Indian cricket team after Sachin Tendulkar to record List-A knocks over the 16,000 mark. He scored his 58th List A ton to prove that he is not yet satisfied with his running experience.

Ricky Bhui (Andhra Pradesh)

In the middle of so many glittering returns, Ricky Bhui made a brilliant hand for Andhra with a composed 122 off 105 balls against a strong Delhi side, whose bowling lineup included internationals such as Ishant Sharma and Navdeep Saini, to provide a solid platform to Andhra with a total of 298/8.

Ayush Loharuka (Bihar)

Wicket-keeper batter Ayush Loharuka was instrumental to the historic team effort by posting an unbeaten 116 from 56 deliveries. His fearless start along with Vaibhav Suryavanshi established the tone for the innings, which ultimately helped the team to register the highest total of 574/6, the highest ever recorded in the history of List A cricket.
