Teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi played a mesmerizing knock, converting his first T20 half-century into a breathtaking century for Rajasthan Royals in their IPL 2025 encounter against Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday. At an age of just 14 years and 32 days old, Suryavanshi became the youngest player in the history of men’s T20 cricket to have scored a century.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Maiden IPL Century
The left-handed batter first raised his fifty off just 17 deliveries, leaving veteran pacer Ishant Sharma to the cleaners for 26 runs in an over. But he didn’t let up, the youngster went into overdrive against debutant Karim Janat, hitting 30 runs in an over to leave the Titans shell-shocked.
Vaibhav smashed a century in just 35 balls and in the IPL history he is now just behind Chris Gayle as the second fastest player. Interestingly, no other player under the age of 18 has ever achieved a T20 century before. He is also the 7th Indian teenager to have scored a T20 ton after Rohit Sharma, Devdutt Padikkal and Manish Pandey.
Royals’ Big Investment Paying Off
The Rajasthan Royals had made a huge decision during the IPL 2024 auction, and signed him for INR 1.10 crore when he was only 13. After small scores of 34 and 16 in his first two games, the young sensation finally made his presence felt in style against the Gujarat Titans.
Before his IPL heroics, Suryavanshi had already played for India U19, with whom he had established a solid partnership with Ayush Mhatre in the U19 Asia Cup played in the UAE.
