Rinku Singh made a strong statement with his impressive performance in the opening match of UP T20 League 2025. He showcased his all-round skills and sent a bold message to selectors just ahead of Asia Cup 2025. India is yet to announce their squad for the upcoming tournament but Rinku Singh’s spot still remains uncertain.
Rinku Singh came in to bowl and struck a wicket on his very first delivery as he clean bowled Adarsh Singh of the Kanpur Superstars. He was seen to be absolutely pumped as he took the wicket and his celebration resonated his emotions.
The match was held at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Vajpayee Stadium in Lucknow. Opting to bowl first, the Kanpur Superstars’ decision completely backfired. Madhav Kaushik from Meerut Mavericks was absolutely lethal with bat as he remained unbeaten on 95 off just 31 deliveries, his knock included 10 fours and 7 sixes. He was supported by Rituraj Sharma, who also remained unbeaten on 60 off 26 balls and Akshay Dubey who scored a quickfire 44 runs off 26 balls. The explosive batting by Mavericks took the target to 225/2.
Kanpur Superstars on the other hand never found a momentum and crumbled under pressure. The Superstars’ captain Sameer Rizvi was the only took scorer with 45 runs and the team witnessed a complete batting collapse. Meerut Mavericks established their dominance in both the innings which handed them a solid 86-run victory.
