UP T-20 League: In the first match of Day 5, Gorakhpur Lions registered their maiden victory by defeating Meerut Mavericks. All the matches are being played in Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium.  

Gorakhpur Lions won the toss and decided to bowl first. Following the invitation for batting, the Meerut team scored a huge total of 213 runs at the loss of 2 wickets. Swastik Chikara again scored a century today for the Meerut Mavericks, but unfortunately, the Lions defeated them today. 

Meerut Mavericks, led by in-form Madhav Kaushik, have had a topsy-turvy start to their season, experiencing ups and downs in their first two fixtures. Mavericks’ batsmen have had a good campaign, but their bowlers have not been able to find the rhythm yet, due to which the team is facing difficulty in getting consecutive wins. However, their campaign started with a thrilling win in the Super Over against Kashi Rudra. But they suffered a seven-wicket defeat against Kanpur Superstars in a high-scoring encounter.

On the other hand, Gorakhpur Lions faced a disappointing competition and lost both matches. Their first loss of the season came in the Super Over against Lucknow Falcons. They faced an even bigger defeat against Noida Super Kings by 43 runs in the second match.
