In the first T20I of the five-match series at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, India’s all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy took an excellent diving catch to dismiss England’s captain, Jos Buttler. This was after Varun Chakravarthy had been hit for a six by Buttler on the previous delivery, in which Chakravarthy was looking for redemption.

Chakravarthy pitched up a short ball into Buttler’s body. The England skipper attempted to pull it but was mistaken and holed out high over square leg. Reddy came in from deep, launching himself to take an astonishing low catch with both hands. A review by the on-field umpires sealed the decision. The Indians were very clinical to shut out the home side at 132.
India won the toss and elected to bowl first, Arshdeep Singh made sure that the England’s batting lineup was crushed and he reduced them to 17/2 within the first few overs. Varun Chakaravarthy and Axar Patel also weaved their magic followed by Hardik Pandya.
England had set the target of 132 batting first but India dominated the whole game and chase the target in just 12.5 overs. Abhishek Sharma was the star of the match as he scored 79 runs and paved way for India’s win.
