It was then that Tilak stepped in and fought back the pressure, making sure to create an important partnership with Suryakumar Yadav. The fall of the skipper then exposed the entire task on the young shoulders of Tilak, leaving India struggling at 78 for 5, where the visitors began to reel.

England’s bowlers, led by Brydon Carse (3/28) and Adil Rashid (1/14), were a tight unit; scoring opportunities never came easily for the batters. However, Tilak handled caution and aggression with a fair balance. Joined by Washington Sundar (26), the two steadied the innings until they had to depend on value contributions from lower order to near the target closely. With appropriate strike rotation, and confidence from the tail, Tilak finally guided India into a nail-biting finish, which they came out victorious.
