Netherlands boys played well with the ball and dismissed 8 of South Africa players on the pitch for just 145 runs. When 18 runs were needed in last ball, experts had said big statement on the failure of South Africa and the dominance of Netherlands.

Temba Bavuma ‘very disappointed’ with defeat

Winning by 13 runs, Netherlands registered themselves one of the biggest wins of their career. South Africa captain Temab Bavuma had nothing but to be ‘very disappointed.’

In the post-match press-conference, Bavuma said, “ Very disappointing. We really played well before this game. We knew it was a must-win game and again we faltered when it mattered. Hard one to swallow for the guys. We had the confidence and the belief to get to the knockouts. You can pick out a lot of things when you lose that way.”

Bavuma compared this defeat with the one against Pakistan and said that they lost wickets at crucial times. “With the bat we just got stuck similar to the Pakistan game. We lost wickets at crucial times. The wicket maybe got a bit hard, but they used the dimensions of the ground a lot better than we did. From all of us, just wasn’t good enough.”

Group 2 Points Table and India sail into semi-finals

Loss of South Africa comfirmed the semi-final spot for India as they have the highest points in Group 2 table i.e 6. The other semi-finalist will be the winner of Pakistan vs Bangladesh.
