The T20 World Cup will be held in 2026 and two stadiums have reportedly been shortlisted for the semi-final, these are – Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and Eden Gardens in Kolkata according to Cricbuzz. The tournament is scheduled to take place in February and March next year and it will be jointly hosted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). The tournament will be hosted across eight venues which are finalised by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
In India, the matches will be held in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Kolkata while Sri Lanka will be hosting it in Colombo and Kandy. The venue for final still remains undecided and it will depend on which are the teams qualifying. According to a report by The Indian Express the opening match will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

According to the current plan, if Pakistan or Sri Lanka qualify for semi-finals their matches will be taking place in Colombo and if neither of the two reach that stage then both the semi-final and final will be played on the Indian soil.
The 20 participating teams will be divided into four groups of five, including all 13 Test-playing nations alongside Canada, the Netherlands, UAE, Nepal, Oman, and Namibia. Notably, Italy will make their T20 World Cup debut in this edition. India is the reigning champions of the 2024 World Cup as they defeated South Africa and the Men in Blue will now be looking to defend their title.
