New Delhi: Team India faced their worst semi-final defeat against England today when they were fighting for the spot in finale of T20 World Cup 2022. But were they actually fighting? As the efforts by team said different words.
Recently, when South Africa lost against Netherlands and got kicked out of tournament, the tag of chokers was reinforced on them. The following failure in the knock-out stage of the crucial tournaments are proving how India choke in high-pressure games.
It has been almost a decade since India had won any ICC trophy. If talk specifically about T20 World Cup, India last won it in 2007, in the very first edition.

Ever since, they either fail to reach in the knock-out games or fail miserably under the pressure.
T20 World Cup 2014:
Star-studded Team India became one of the favourites when they reached the World Cup finals without losing any match. But finale proved to have too much pressure on Men in Blue as they were defeated by Sri Lanka.
ODI World Cup 2015:
Captain MS Dhoni had already won all three trophies by 2015 but it looked like that was it. While entering the 2015 ODI World Cup, India were the defending champions and then they lost int he semi-finals. Dhoni-led India managed to reach the semi-finals but they faced a huge defeat by 95 runs against Australia.
T20 World Cup 2016:
India was hosting the world cup and started the tournament with a disappointment against New Zealand. Still, they made it to semi-finals after winning all games but West Indies said, that is it. They defeated in semi-finals and won in the final as well.

ICC Champions Trophy 2017:
When India enters in the tournament of Champions trophy, once again, they were the defending champions and favourites to win the trophy again. Virat Kohli had a major project in his hands after stepping in the shoes of Dhoni. He took the team till the finale, only to face one of their shocking defeat. India had lost by 180 runs. It was a major setback for India.
ODI World Cup 2019:
India choked in the knock out game of semi-final against New Zealand and lost by 18 runs. Virat Kohli failed in another major project and India was devoid of the world cup trophy.
T20 World Cup 2021:
This season is marked as their worst T20 World Cup campaign as the couldn’t even reach the semi-finals after facing major defeats against Pakistan and New Zealand. In a highly charged game, India lost against Pakistan 10 wickets and then against New Zealand by 8 wickets. It also marked the end of captaincy era of Virat Kohli.

T20 World Cup 2022:
India had been spectacular in the group stage, winning four out of five games. Team India finished on top of table to reach the semi-finals but knock-out stage is something that didn’t prove to be their forte. India lost to England by 10 wickets in the semi-finals.
