Hardik Pandya continued his sensational form in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, playing a match-winning knock for Baroda in a dramatic finish against Tamil Nadu. Chasing a massive target of 222, Baroda were still in trouble at 152 for 6 in the 16th over, when Hardik walked into bat at No. 6. What followed thereafter was pure brilliance. In the next over itself, Hardik came hard against Tamil Nadu’s Gurjapneet Singh who had earned his name in big wickets for last few months.

Shreyas Iyer’s Magnificent Knock
At the same time, it was a day that reinforced why Shreyas Iyer is worth every bit of his INR 26.75 crore which he fetched in the recently concluded IPL auction. After the auctions, Iyer took this red-hot form into the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he rapidly scored 71 runs off 39 balls as Mumbai chases 172 against Maharashtra. His innings included eight fours and three sixes. Ajinkya Rahane also batted well, making 52 off 34 balls as the two added 110 runs for the third wicket to steer Mumbai home in just 17.1 overs to a five-wicket victory. This was a comprehensive team effort, but Iyer’s fiery knock had set the tone for the successful chase by Mumbai.
