Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: Baroda became the first team to hit over 300 runs as well in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with an astonishing 349/5 from 20 overs against Sikkim on Thursday in Indore and thus set a new T20 cricket record for a team total.
Zimbabwe had held the record for the highest team total in T20 cricket, having scored 344 against Gambia earlier in October.
Baroda, last season’s runners-up, were led by Bhanu Pania, who remained unbeaten on 134 from just 51 balls. Abhimanyu Singh, Vishnu Solanki, and Shivalik Sharma also contributed with half-centuries to propel the score.
Though India all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who played in the initial stages of the competition, was not included in the XI, Baroda’s attacking batting exceeded the last edition’s record over Punjab against Andhra of 275.
