India’s T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav took a light-hearted jab at the ongoing Asia Cup controversy after T20I series win against Australia. The fifth and final T20I in Brisbane was washed out following which India registered a 2-1 win. During the post-match presentation, Suryakumar Yadav quipped that its nice to finally hold the trophy in reference to what happened in the Asia Cup final.
“It feels great to finally get to touch the trophy. Felt it in my hands, when I was handed over the trophy for the series victory. A few days back another trophy arrived in India our women’s team has won the World Cup. That trophy has also arrived back home. It feels great and getting to touching this trophy as well feels good,” Suryakumar said in the post-match press conference.
In the Asia Cup 2025, India defeated Pakistan three times and all of the three matches involved controversy. In the first match, India declined handshake with Pakistan players and this triggered them. In the second match, Pakistani players made some very questionable gestures related to Operation Sindoor and in the third match the Indian contingent refused to take trophy from Mohsin Naqvi. Following all this Naqvi ran away with the trophy and till date India’s hasn’t received their well-deserved silverware.

Recently, BCCI secretary informed that an ICC official has been trying to mediate the issue between BCCI and Mohsin Naqvi to solve the Asia Cup trophy issue.
