IPL: After Sunriser Hyderabad underperformed in coachship of cricket legend Brian Lara, the team management have announced former New Zealand all rounder Daniel Vettori as team’s head coach.
In a announcement tweet, the IPL franchise welcomed Vettori.
“Kiwi legend Daniel Vettori joins the #OrangeArmy as Head Coach🧡
Welcome, coach!,” wrote SunRisers Hyderabad.
In a separate tweet the franchise has thanked Brian Lara for his contribution to the team.
“As our 2 year association with Brian Lara comes to an end, we bid adieu to him 🧡.Thank you for the contributions to the Sunrisers. We wish you all the best for your future endeavours, 🙌” said the franchise.
SRH had a very disappointing performance in IPL 2023. The Hyderabad team finished at the bottom 10th position in the table. At the same time, SRH finished the season at the eighth position in IPL 2022.
Vettori has played a total of 34 matches in the IPL from 2008 to 2012, in which he took 28 wickets. Apart from Delhi, he was a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He took 705 wickets in 442 international matches. Vettori was the head coach of RCB from 2014 to 2018. He most recently served as the assistant coach of the Australia men’s team. Vettori will be the fourth head coach of SRH after 2019. Moody took over as Hyderabad’s head coach in 2019 and 2022, Trevor Bayliss in 2020 and 2021 while Lara took over in 2023.
