Shubman Gill to play THIS tournament after getting dropped from India’s T20 World Cup squad

It is still unclear whether Shubman Gill will be playing the whole tournament but he has been named in the squad after getting dropped from India's T20 World Cup squad.

Shubman Gill

Indian batter Shubman Gill has been named in the Punjab's squad for Vijay Hazare Trophy. The news comes right after Gill was dropped from India's squad for T20 World Cup which will be starting from February 7, 2026. Alongside Gill, Abhishek Sharma and Arshdeep Singh have also been named in the squad and will begin their Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign against Maharashtra from December 24.

The exclusion from T20 World Cup squad comes after Shubman Gill’s performance came under tight scrutiny especially in the T20Is, since he was added in the squad and announced as the vice-captain he has failed miserably – getting out for ducks and single-digit scores.
