Shoaib Malik, still seen playing on the international T20 circuit at the age of 43, though now he represents the Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). His participation in the tournament, though, has raised eyebrows, with a former Pakistan cricketer, Shahid Afridi mentioning that Shoaib can play if he wants but he is taking position of a lot of youngsters and they should also get a chance to perform.

Shoaib Malik Should Miss Few Games
“He can play till whenever he wants to. I recently met him at the Academy of Moin Khan. He was coming back from training. At that time, the National Cup T20 was going on. Shoaib Malik can play some matches, but he should also miss a few games so that youngsters get their chance as they have performed to get here,” said Afridi.
Shoaib Malik Has To Decide Whether To Play Or Mentor
“What will happen to the kid who is missing out? Shoaib Malik is playing in his place. There should be a line drawn. You are the mentor, and you must decide whether you want to be a mentor or play” the anchor replied
“Yes, you are right. What else can I say?” Afridi agreed with her point of view
