Pakistan suffered a crushing 202-run defeat against the West Indies in the final ODI of the three-match series. This has been one of the heaviest defeat Pakistan has ever faced and this also ensured West Indies a series win by 2-1. At the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium, West Indies skipper Shai Hope produced a match-winning knock and remained not out at 120.
Shai Hope helped his team reach a competitive total of 294/6. In the second innings pacer Jayden Seales wrecked havoc on field and completely dismantled Pakistan’s batting lineup, he picked up six wickets and folded the Pakistani side at a mere score of 92.
The emphatic win in 3rd ODI came as a relief for the West Indies but also exposed Pakistan’s ongoing struggle in the field. After the defeat, former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar criticised Mohammad Rizwan led side for their humiliating performance.
“We used to have expressive and explosive talent, and we played like that. We were never dependent on one individual – everyone chipped in,” Shoaib said on Game On Hai Show
“No one used to look for escape routes. The environment has changed, and in the last 10-15 years, everyone has started playing for themselves. Everyone is playing for their averages. The intent should be to win matches for your country. We need to change the intent, the mindset, and create that atmosphere. You need to play according to modern cricket. How hard is that to understand?” he added.
“Halka sa seam hota hai toh musibat pad jaati hai (The ball moves a bit and they are in trouble). Rawalpindi pitch lekar nahi ghoom sakte (You can’t carry Pindi pitches everywhere),” said Shoaib.
