Ex-India opener Shikhar Dhawan has fired back at ex-Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi after the latter made a controversial remark where he criticised Indian army after the terror attack at Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22 in which 26 people lost their lives.
What Did Shahid Afridi Say?
Afridi had previously was caught in controversy on a TV show in Pakistan, where he had implied that an Indian security failure was the cause of the Pahalgam attack. He went on to criticize media for their coverage and called for proof of Pakistan’s involvement, alleging that India has a history of blaming Pakistan for such attacks.
“Even if a cracker bursts in India, they blame it on Pakistan. You have an 8 lakh-strong army in Kashmir, yet this happened. This means you are useless, not being able to provide security to people,” he told Samaa TV.
Shikhar Dhawan Hits Back With Strong Reply
Gone to social media, Dhawan gave a stinging reply, asking Afridi to stop from stooping so low and focus on his own country. He openly declared support for the Indian Army. Dhawan underlined that all Indians take great pride in the sacrifices and dedication of the country’s armed forces.
