Sarfaraz Khan shattered the records at 12 years of age at Harris Shield inter-school tournament, where he smashed 439 for Rizvi Springfield, which included an astonishing 56 fours and 12 sixes. He then had a mixed career; though his MCA suspended him on age-related discrepancies, this was sorted out after an advanced test. After a relatively successful season with Mumbai Under-19, it was his father, Naushad Khan’s, turn to train him. He then received a call-up for India Under-19 quadrangular series in 2013. He was an instant hit, scoring a match-winning 101 off just 66 balls while chasing against South Africa.
The Rise Of Unstoppable Sarfaraz
In 2014, he was selected for the India team that participated in the Under-19 World Cup staged in the UAE. He scored 211 runs in 6 matches at an average of 70.33. The very following year, the Royal Challengers Bangalore purchased him for INR 50 lakhs, thereby becoming the youngest cricketer in the IPL history. In the 2016 Under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh, Sarfaraz finished as the second-highest run-scorer, collecting 355 runs in six matches and often saving the team from precarious situations. Sarfaraz Khan showed his power with 1st century in Test on day 4 of India vs New Zealand 1st Test at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on October 19. Double Century In Irani Cup 2024
Sarfaraz Khan, the middle-order batter of Mumbai, was outstanding in the Irani Cup 2024 match against the Rest of India at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. In mere 254 balls, he went on to score a double century. This marked a new milestone besides setting some new records for Sarfaraz as he knocked down all those double hundreds that were made by famous legends like Yuvraj Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Ravi Shastri. Making an impressive mark on Test debut, Sarfaraz Khan took it to cleaners, ensuring a swift fifty on the first day of the third Test against England on Wednesday in Rajkot. The 26-year-old born in Mumbai showed an aggressive style of play that thrilled both the spectators and commentators alike. A barrage of boundaries, including a six, fetched Sarfaraz his first fifty in just 48 balls. He made this incredible performance equal to Hardik Pandya’s record for the fastest debut fifty in which on both occasions he achieved his maiden fifty in the same number of deliveries.
900 Runs In Ranji Trophy Seasons
In the season of 2019-20, he excelled in batting and also showed brilliance by scoring a tremendous 928 runs against the top-class teams of the tournament. This consistency is extraordinary in itself and underlines not just his ability but also positions him as an imposing force in cricket as played in the homeland. In 2021-22 season Sarfaraz Khan again went on to score 982 runs at an average of 122.75. He hit 4 hundreds and 2 half-centuries.
