Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan was attacked last Wednesday night at his residence and was left with multiple stab wounds. He was immediately taken to Lilavati Hospital for treatment. Fans are left shocked and concerned over the safety of the actor due to this incident.

Saif Ali Khan’s Royal Cricketing Legacy

While he is boasted for his career in Bollywood, his association with cricket goes miles. His father, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, was a legendary cricketer who captained the Indian team at the age of 21 and led it for many years. His grandfather, Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi, played international cricket for England. But Saif decided to pursue a career in films, similar to his mother Sharmila Tagore.

Saif Ali Khan’s Link To Pakistan Cricket

Saif’s connection with cricket is not limited to one country. Saif’s uncle is Shaharyar Khan, former chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board. Shaharyar had held the position of PCB chairman twice-first from 2003 to 2006 and then again from 2014 to 2017. He had also been Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary, which demonstrates the family’s reach in sports and diplomacy.

The Battle For Royal Legacy

Saif Ali Khan’s ancestral roots are in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, where his grandfather was the Nawab during British rule. A legal battle ensued after the death of the Nawab of Bhopal in 1960 over the royal property of the family. Shaharyar Khan and his brothers, who had migrated to Pakistan, claimed a share in the estate based on Sharia law, which recognized the elder son, Nawab Muhammad Sarwar Ali Khan, as the heir.

A Legal Victory For Saif’s Family

Sharmila Tagore, Saif’s mother, contested the claim in Indian courts. She argued that Shaharyar Khan’s mother, Abida Sultan (Mansoor Ali Khan’s aunt), had migrated to Pakistan after partition and forfeited her rights to property in India. After years of legal proceedings, the court ruled in 2019 that Sajida Sultan, Saif’s grandmother and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi’s mother, was the rightful heir to the property. This verdict dismissed Shaharyar Khan’s claim and secured Saif’s family’s inheritance.

Saif has indeed gone on to forge his own identity in the world of entertainment, but royalty and cricket remain a vital part of him.
