Rohit Sharma recently opened up about his mindset and approach following his stunning century in the second ODI against England. His knock not only helped India secure a comfortable win but also gave a significant boost to his confidence ahead of the Champions Trophy. Having been under scrutiny due to a rough patch in international cricket, Rohit silenced his critics with a commanding performance in the 50-over format.
A Stellar Knock To Set Up India’s Victory
Rohit scored a blistering 119 runs off 90 balls, which included 12 boundaries and 7 sixes. His knock played a very important role in India’s thumping 4-wicket win, which made the series for them with a 2-0 lead and 33 balls to spare.
“I said after the last match as well, we want to get better as a team and as players. As long guys are clear what they are supposed to do and whatever the captain and coach is saying, if they execute it then there’s not much to think about,” Rohit said in the post-match presentation

Rohit’s Approach towards Getting Back in Form
Speaking about his individual approach, Rohit explained how he adapted his batting technique for the 50-over format, where the tempo and time available differ from Test or T20 formats. His ability to adjust to the varying formats has been key to his success.
“It was good and really enjoyed being out there, scoring some runs for the team. Important game with the series on the line but I broke it down to pieces about how I wanted to bat. Longer than T20s and shorter than Tests and I wanted to break it down. I wanted to bat as deep as possible and that was my focus,” Rohit said.
Ruling The Cuttack Surface
“Still, you need to assess and bat according to the situation. I wanted to stay focused and bat as deep as possible. Looking at the pitch when you play on black soil, the pitch tends to skid on a bit so it’s important that you show the full face of the bat. Then they were trying to bowl into the body and not give room so I prepared my plan as well,” he concluded.
When discussing his preparation for the Cuttack pitch, Rohit highlighted how he adjusted his game to the black solid surface.
