Rishabh Pant is closing in on a return to competitive cricket, with his fitness clearance expected by October 10 following a final evaluation later this week. The wicketkeeper-batter has been out of action since fracturing his foot on the England tour. Even with the injury, Pant had a good series finishing as India’s sixth-highest run-getter with 479 runs off four Tests at an average of 68.42 and a strike rate of 77.63, with two centuries and three half-centuries.
His incident took place within the fourth Test in Manchester when a yorker by Chris Woakes hit his right toe. Exhibiting tremendous grit, Pant came out to bat despite the pain and contributed significantly towards India’s score of 358, which eventually ensured a draw decisive in India tying the series at the Oval.

“As of now, there is a likelihood he could be cleared by Oct 10. An assessment is due this week. It has been a long recovery for him. The BCCI medical team doesn’t want to take any chances with him,” a BCCI source told TOI.
PTI reported that Pant will get a medical clearance by October 10. The report further stated that he has communicated with DDCA president Rohan Jaitley and declared his commitment to return in the Ranji Trophy from October 25.
“Pant has said he should be available for the Ranji Trophy matches in Delhi from Oct 25. He has conveyed that it will be subject to fitness and clearance obtained from the BCCI medical team,” a top DDCA official told TOI.
