A FIR has been registered against Royal Challengers Bengaluru fast bowler Yash Dayal on charges of sexual exploitation with the false promise of marriage. The case was filed by a Ghaziabad woman from Uttar Pradesh who said she had been in a relationship with the cricketer for five years. She alleged emotional, physical, and mental abuse from Dayal while they were together.
The woman had first filed her complaint on June 21 using the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s online portal of grievances (IGRS). After an initial investigation, police at the Indirapuram station, in all seriousness, registered the case on Monday. As per India Today, Dayal has been charged under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with sexual intercourse procured by fraud or false promise of marriage – an offense which can attract a sentence of maximum ten years’ imprisonment, along with a fine.

“He repeatedly made physical relations with me by falsely promising marriage and introduced me to his family, who assured that I would be their daughter-in-law. I maintained the relationship with complete honesty and dedication,” the woman alleged.
“I tried to end my life many times because I couldn’t get out of the mental pain, and he and his family kept giving me false assurances. His relationship with other women caused me deep mental trauma and broke me down,” she alleged.

In her testimony, the complainant explained the abuse had led to her being depressed, which she then took medical treatment for. She also described their relationship, revealing that it started online and then later met in Prayagraj. In a report by Dainik Bhaskar, she alleged to have visited Dayal’s house and to have been known to his family. Dayal’s father is said to have denied ever knowing her.
