Sydney: South Africa lost to Pakistan by 33 runs and thus, their chances of sailing into the semi-finals of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 are currently in doubts. Pakistan had given 186 runs as the target for the Proteas and they failed to chase it in the 20 overs.
The batting performance from South Africa was poor and this is what caused them to loose in an important clash.
‘Quite disappointing the way we ended’ South Africa captain Temba Bavuma
After losing the hard-fought game to Pakistan, South Africa captain Temba Bavuma said, “Quite disappointing the way we ended our bowling session. Getting them 5 down quickly and allowing them to get to a formidable score. Lots of questions we need to ask. Credit to them. We knew that weather was going to be a bit of an issue.”
While commenting on the preparations of bowler for the game, he said, “I’m no bowler but the bowlers do practice for these conditions. Wicket was sliding on, slower balls weren’t gripping. We probably could’ve used the bigger side a bit more.”
Next game in big one – Temba Bavuma
For the do-or-die game against Netherlands, South Africa captain said, “Next game is obviously a big one for us against Netherlands in Adelaide. Have to put this one behind quickly, take whatever learnings we can.”
Pakistan outplay South Africa
Babar Azam-led team outplayed South Africa in Sydney Cricket Ground. Choosing to bat first, Pakistan had put 185 runs on board and defended their score successfully in Sydney.
