Prithvi Shaw was once known to be the rising star in Indian cricket as the talented right-handed batter rose to prominence after leading India towards victory in the 2018 U 19 World Cup. Shaw even made a sensational start to his Test career by scoring a century on his debut. But past few years haven’t been easy for him first he was dropped from the Mumbai Ranji Trophy squad then the went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction. There were reports which suggested that all this happened because of Shaw’s indiscipline and lack of effort.
Shashank Singh Tells What Went Wrong With Prithvi Shaw
“I know him since I’ve played club cricket with him in Bombay. If you ask me what’s wrong with him, he has different perspectives about things. If he changes his point of views regarding a few of those things, like work ethics, fitness and discipline,” said Shashank.

“Maybe he is working on improving those, but if he can modify some of those aspects, he can become even better,” he added.
Shashank Names Future Stars Of Indian Cricket
In an interview on Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube Show, Punjab Kings batter Shashank Singh shared his thoughts and his opinion on Shaw’s recent struggles, he even gave a way through which Shaw can make a comeback. When asked to name future stars in Indian cricket, Shashank named Shaw but stressed that Shaw has to transform his mindset. He said that Shaw’s attitude towards the game is not conducive to long-term success and told him to raise his work rate and discipline if he is to salvage his career.

“Yashasvi, for sure, he’s a big name. Shubman Gill is another. He’s a very talented player. Prithvi Shaw, too, if he can return to doing his basics, I think he can achieve anything. I know him since the last 13 years, I used to play with him in Mumbai.” Shashank said
