Prithvi Shaw’s cricket journey seems to be encountering one obstacle after another. Recently, the talented right-handed batter was left out of Mumbai’s squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy. This exclusion led Shaw to express his disappointment on Instagram Stories, but this public display of frustration only seemed to fuel further issues for him.
Shaw’s Fitness & Discipline Under Scrutiny
Since Shaw’s Instagram post, his fitness and discipline have been questioned heavily. An official from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) expressed his concern about Shaw’s commitment and physical condition. This added pressure comes after his underwhelming performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where Mumbai emerged victorious under Shreyas Iyer’s leadership. Shaw could not even cross the 200-run mark in the entire tournament, and his most notable innings came in the quarter-final against Vidarbha.
Prithvi Shaw Will Be Leading MCA Colts
To this end, Shaw has been instructed to take part in the Police Shield Invitational Tournament. He is expected to lead the Mumbai Colts team. The matches in the competition are scheduled to be played over two days at various venues in Mumbai, giving Shaw an opportunity to come back into form and earn his place.
IPL Setback & Ranji Trophy Exclusion
Shaw’s recent career had been full of failures. He went unsold in the IPL mega auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and was also left out of Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy squad for the first phase of the season. Focusing on fitness, Shaw started working hard, and later he was selected for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy squad.
