Australia skipper Pat Cummins has hinted that he is unlikely to feature in the Boxing Day Test against England as Australia have already won the series by 3-0. The Aussies registered a dominant win in the Adelaide Test on Sunday, December 21 - the team has now won 16 of their last 18 Tests against England.

Cummins missed the first two matches in Perth and Brisbane due to injury and he was focused on recovering. He returned in Adelaide and is now very careful about the risks as he has just recovered. His remarks also hint that Australia are not feeling any immediate pressure regarding their position in the 2025–27 World Test Championship cycle.

"I'm feeling really good, [but] as for the rest of the series we'll wait and see. We had a pretty aggressive build-up knowing that it's the Ashes there to be won and we thought that was worth it. Now that the series has been won, there might be a sense of job's done and let's reassess the risk,” Cummins said in the post-match press conference.

"We'll work it out over the next couple of days, I doubt I'll be playing Melbourne, and then we'll have a chat about Sydney. But certainly before the series it was, while the series was live, let's take on the risk and have a crack at it, now it's done, I think we'll need to have a chat about it,” Cummins added.

The Boxing Day Test will be held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on December 26 and the series will end at Sydney Cricket Ground as the last Test of Ashes will be played on January 4, 2026.
