New Delhi: After a long wait of 12 years, the ICC ODI World Cup is going to be hosted by India from October 5, whose final will be played on November 19. Meanwhile, the ICC has released two mascots for the World Cup, which have been designed keeping the youth in mind. According to an ICC press release, the two characters, a male and a female, are wearing futuristic suits and hail from Cricktoverse.
Yash Dhull, Shafali Verma attend unveiling event
The ICC official claimed that the mascots ‘represent the spirit and unity that cricket promotes around the world which will excite the next generation of cricket fans’. The mascot was unveiled by the ICC at an event in Gurugram, India, during which U19 World Cup-winning captain Yash Dhull and Shafali Verma were present.

On the other hand, the male characters were described as “exuding a unique blend of sub-zero coolness and high tension punch”. From dastardly finesse to his groundbreaking six shots, every one of his shots exudes electrifying power that captivates audiences. His electromagnetic bat and versatile repertoire of shots add excitement, lighting up the stage and rousing the goal area with every shot. ”
ICC Head of Events, Chris Tetley said, “We are delighted to launch the ICC’s mascot pair ahead of the 2023 World Cup. Our mascots stand as a symbol of the unity and passion that both genders represent. They symbolize the important role gender equality plays in our dynamic world.”
“In line with ICC and Cricket’s priority to connect with the next generation of cricket fans, these mascots have the power to engage and entertain children, growing the love of the game beyond ICC events,” he added.

Fans to name them
Meanwhile, cricket fans around the world will be given an opportunity to participate in naming the mascot of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. The ODI Cricket World Cup is scheduled to begin on 5 October and the final will be held on 19 November.
