Kyle Jamieson held his nerve in a thrilling final over as New Zealand edged the West Indies by nine runs in the third T20I.

New Zealand wins the third T20I against West Indies

New Zealand seamer Kyle Jamieson delivered a match-winning performance and claimed a crucial win by nine runs against West Indies. In the third T20I on Sunday, West Indies were chasing a total of 177 and they even came close to a win but their innings were wrapped up at 168 runs with Romario Shepherd caught in the deep off the penultimate ball for a career-best 49.

The wicket was the turning point and now New Zealand have 2-1 lead in the five-match T20I series. There was a time when the visitors were reeling at 88-8 but Shepherd and Shamar Springer stitched a stunning partnership and added 78 runs in just 6.3 overs.

In the last leg of the match, West Indies just needed 12 from six balls and managed only two runs after which Jamieson dismissed Shepherd marking the end of winning hopes for West Indies.

For New Zealand, Devon Conway stepped up but got run out at the score of 56 off 34 balls. The Kiwis also struggled briefly but soon caught the momentum. Jacob Duffy finished with figures of 3-36, while Ish Sodhi claimed 3-34, moving him to third on the all-time T20I wicket-takers list with 156 scalps, behind only Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan (182) and New Zealand’s Tim Southee (164).
