New Zealand’s top batter Lauren Down has been ruled out of the two remaining ODIs against Sri Lanka. This is because of the back injury she has sustained in the morning of first ODI in Napier and still hasn’t recovered properly. Down was herself a replacement of Bella James but she was also ruled out due to strain on her right leg.
Lauren Down Injured: New Replacement Announced
Uncapped Izzy Sharp has been announced as the replacement of Lauren Down.
Izzy Sharp was selected for only the T20I series but she will be joining the ODI squad in Nelson. Emma Black will also be joining in place of Hannah Rowe who’ll be missing the match.
“We’re all really disappointed for Lauren to be ruled out of the series,” New Zealand head coach Ben Sawyer said. “Unfortunately, injuries are part of the game and we wish her a speedy recovery.
