The much-awaited wedding of Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal has been postponed after both the families faced major health scare. The wedding was originally scheduled to happen on November 23 in Sangli but a before that Smriti’s father was taken to the hospital as he faced a heart related health scare.
Following this, Palash Muchhal’s mother Amita spoke publicly about the emotional strain both the families had to go through and revealed how deeply Palash was affected. She even mentioned that the decision to put an hold to the wedding was Palash’s call and not Smriti – highlighting about the strong bond he shared with Smriti’s father.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Amita said, “Palash ko uncle se bahut zyada attachment hai… Smriti se zyada yeh dono close hain… Palash ne decision liya ke usko abhi phere nahi karne jab tak uncle theek nahi ho jaate. (Palash is extremely attached to Smiti’s father… the two of them are even closer than Smriti is with him. When he fell ill, it was Palash who decided that he would not go ahead with the wedding rituals until uncle gets better.)”
The haldi ceremony had already taken place and Palash insisted on postponing the wedding until Smriti’s father fully recovered. Talking about Palash’s condition his mother mentioned – “Rote rote ek dum tabiyat kharab ho gayi… 4 ghante hospital mein rakhna pada… IV drip chadhi, ECG hua… sab normal aaye, par stress bahut hai. (He cried so much that his condition suddenly worsened… He had to be kept in the hospital for 4 hours… he was put on an IV drip, an ECG was done… everything came back normal, but he is under a lot of stress.)”
Amita even described how Smriti’s father Srinivas was in high spirits and danced his heart out in the wedding festivities. “Ek din pehle unhone bahut dance kiya… Instagram par stories daal rahe the… bahut zyada khush the. (A day earlier, he danced a lot… he was posting stories on Instagram… he was extremely happy.)”

The preparations for Baraat were already taking place but Srinivas started to feel the discomfort and he was then immediately taken to the hospital.
“Pehle toh unhone bataya nahi, par jab badhne laga, ambulance bulayi. (At first, he didn’t say anything, but when it got worse, an ambulance was called.)”
