Nitish Rana: Former Delhi state team captain Nitish Rana and Dhruv Shorey, the highest run-getter in the Ranji Trophy last season, sought No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) to start their journey with other states in the upcoming domestic season.
Rajan Manchanda, DDCA joint secretary, confirmed the same on Friday. However, he said that both cricketers will be reached out to find out why they want to take such a step.
The secretary said that DDCA would definitely request them to stay as both are senior players and have contributed a lot to Delhi cricket. But the final decision will remain with them. If they don’t agree to stay, then we will certainly let them go.”
Last Ranaji season, Delhi couldn’t qualify for the knockouts despite Shorey scoring 859 runs. He was the fourth-highest run scorer after Mayank Agarwal (990), Arpit Vasavada (907), and Anushtup Majumdar (867).
Replying to a question asking if their grievances will be addressed, The secretary said that how can DDCA talk about selection matters. It is totally depends on selection committee.
As per sources, Himmat Singh, a middle-order batsman, is likely to lead Delhi.
